Welcome to LA Hokies!!!

We'd like to welcome everyone to the new online hub for the Virginia Tech Alumni Association here in the Los Angeles region. As you can quickly tell, the formatting of this site is a little more complex than what we've probably once had in the past, and the design is meant to encourage interactivity amongst ourselves in hopes of creating a closer, more engaging Alumni presence here in Los Angeles.

This site will be a living website; whereas the majority of the content on the site will be provided by you! For starters, we ask that you subscribe to and create groups! Groups will allow us to interact amongst ourselves and meet Hokies in your region of Los Angeles, or simply other Hokies with similar interests.

Secondly, we've introduced a few features that will make this web site worth coming back to over and over.. Sharing pictures in the Hokie Pictures group is very easy for Flickr users; you can share videos, speak with other members about job opportunities, reconnect directly with former classmates and colleagues, sell and buy items from other local alumni, as well as find out about VTAA-LA events, and post and read about volunteer opportunities in the area.
We're happy to inform you that through the website preferences, you should be able to dictate what messages and content you care to receive, and what content you don't wish to receive in your personal email (which is hidden from the rest of the community); which should allow you to throttle your level of involvement in this online community. We will keep this community public for the time being, but will monitor content and possibly make this a closed community requiring invitations if need be.

We hope the level of engagement that this website will encourage will not only bring us closer together, but will also assist in getting newly relocated alumni acclimated to our community!
